On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, the new billboard for the FREE MATTHEW campaign was installed. The design, a collective effort between Beti Films, the family of Matthew Echevarria, and Chicago-based artist Christophe Gausparro, revitalizes the long-standing billboard at the intersection of Fullerton and Harlem in Elmwood Park, IL. The vivid, thought-provoking design immediately captures the attention of passers-by with the bold and provocative question, “WHAT IF YOUR CHILD WAS KIDNAPPED, AND THROWN IN PRISON?”
With the updated billboard Denise Bronis, Matthew’s mother, hopes people will come forward with new information about his case. Matthew has been claiming his innocence since his arrest at the age of 17, and has been fighting for his freedom for over 20 years.
