Post Conviction is heading to California for two upcoming screenings this fall, and audiences can watch the film virtually too.
These screenings continue the film’s 2026 festival and community run and bring Post Conviction to audiences in California, including people who know the realities of incarceration and the legal system firsthand.
We’re especially excited that audiences outside California will have an opportunity to watch the film virtually as part of the festival run.

“We need to rebuild and protect systems that allow filmmakers to make work without having to prove its commercial value before it has ever been made. Some films take years,” documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, and educator Margaret Byrne says. “Some need to be difficult, strange or uncomfortable. Some are made for communities that may never represent a massive market. Their value can’t be measured only by audience size and profitability.
